A Stark Contrast in Construction

Did you know that only 9% of new homes built across England are timber-framed?

However, when you look at the Isle of Wight, that figure tells a completely different story. On the Island, the proportion of new homes built using timber frame is closer to an impressive 70%!

Driving the Island’s Success Story

We are incredibly proud that the vast majority of those timber-framed homes have been designed and manufactured right here by Sydenhams Timber Engineering.

Over the past ten years, our dedicated team has supported hundreds of residential projects across the Island. By consistently delivering high-quality structural solutions, we have helped to make timber frame the go-to choice for local developers, contractors and self-builders alike.

The Benefits of Timber Frame

The reasons behind this shift are clear. Timber frame construction is:

  • Faster to build: Reducing time on site and accelerating overall project delivery.
  • More sustainable: Utilising low embodied carbon materials to lock away CO2.
  • Engineered for precision: Manufactured off-site in controlled conditions to guarantee exceptional accuracy and thermal performance.

Leading the Way

We are incredibly proud to be a core part of the Island’s ongoing timber frame success story.

Equally, the Isle of Wight should be incredibly proud to be leading the way in low embodied carbon construction for the rest of the country to follow.
